終於有人對TCC，應該說是JB演的Teresa丟了第一顆石頭，美國是民主社會，有異議是正常的事，但要看攻擊的論點跟角度是否有問題？果然開第一槍的就是那些刻薄的紐約客，雖然我很想用我的芭樂英文罵回去，但紐時的文章除了不能用右鍵複製外，連comment欄位都沒有，他們這麼害怕網路留言嗎？文章連結在此：http://tv.nytimes.com/2011/02/07/arts/television/07code.html?src=tptw

以上是作者評論JB的部份 

作者看署名應該是女性(而且十之八九是異性戀女，看她對同劇男演員至少沒什麼惡評，還噁心的說Those kids!)，中年歐巴桑潛意識裡對女王敵意還真重，首先就說JB長得太漂亮而不適合那個角色，作者對管理階層的女性形象已經刻板成希拉蕊或葛倫克魯絲在《光頭神探》裡的樣子了嗎？能幹的女性為什麼不能又是漂亮的女性？她到底是女性主義者還是反女性者主義者？在這裡我只看到所謂知識菁英的傲慢，居然是以外貌或造型責怪演員，其實反而可以反過來說，JB可以以柔弱的造型演出強悍的角色，這才是她成功的地方(Bette就是一個鮮明的例子，拉拉家庭的一家之主並不一定要留著短髮穿背心像男人婆一樣，才能演出強勢的感覺，安娜特班寧在《性福拉警報》就是這種刻板的T形象)。

再來居然是芝加哥口音問題，這就更神奇了，在一個地方長大照常理而言是會有那個地方的口音，這有什麼好奇怪的事。就一個在職場或公家單位努力往上爬的女性或男性而言，口才(或口條)是必備的能力，讓一般人易懂的發音是必需的，所以趨近於全國性(無區域差別)口音也很正常，但不代表要完全去地方化，今天如果女王是紐約腔演芝加哥人才怪異吧？我還看過德州腔口音的男演員和劇中的兄弟口音完全不一樣ㄟ(雖說那是偶像劇)，不過紐約人一直以為他們的英文才是最標準的，去。

女王是演得太好讓作者只能在細節裡打轉，雞蛋裡挑骨頭嗎？看美國最近的電影，專業影評罵得越兇，電影票房越好，也許那些躲在象牙塔寫稿子的評論家該走出來看看大眾(Mass)的需求是什麼？不要以為他們寫的都是對的，這其中的偏見跟成見其實是建立在更深層的文化歧視上，他們和我們一樣都是人，專業只不過是鞏固他們講話更大聲的架子而已。

If on paper this all seems very superhero serial, it doesn't play that way on screen. Beals in the big police hat takes some getting used to — she's a bit shiny for a show that's going to get all slaughterhouse and Irish gang. But her Chicago accent is no worse than some Southern accents we could name. And in the second and third episodes especially, she projects a very believable mixture of energetic fury and exhaustion and delivers her lines with the appealing rat-a-tat delivery of a '40s movie heroine.(粗體字是我標注的)

pfinger18：Don't look at the New York Times review. They aren't very kind about JB's performance (but they are kind about her appearance).

jillseven：@pfinger - I read that review. I found it kind of sexist -- 'oh, she can't be a woman in a powerful position because she is too beautiful'.

Plus, perhaps the reviewer was unaware with the part of Chicago she was aiming for wth her accent..JB made it clear that she was targeting a part of town that tends to produce a lot of police officers.

Anyhow, critics are critics. They always think they sound smarter if they find fault.

But like JB, I am interested in intelligence that is fully integrated with the heart.

for all I know, she always gave a full/very committed in her role when she acted! that's one of the reasons I admire her as an actress!

Deean：Really, critics are critics. Do they have a point about her Chicago accent? I dunno, it's possible that they do. Accents even for the initiated are hard to sustain and are very easy to drop in and out of.

That isn't bad acting, it's just the nature of having people use an accent that isn't part of their everyday lifestyle. I expect the longer she is in Chicago the more organic her accent is going to be. And no, this is not an insult against Jennifer - but she isn't perfect and does make mistakes.

As for her being to pretty to be police chief? Sexist much, even if they do have a point on her accent it kind of is overridden by the blatent sexism and thus makes their review pointlessly critical.

elizabethmol13：I personally think her Chicago accent is right on. That's the one thing I picked up right from the start in the previews.

As a transplant to the city myself, I can say that I've started talking with that accent. The Chicago accent is very very prominent. I don't know what that journalist is talking about. Her's sounds perfectly natural to me. 

Annie：Out of the numerous reviews that we have seen over the past week or so, this one stands alone for not liking her performance. I have no doubt that time will prove the NY Times wrong. I rarely agree anyway with most critic's assessment of films, so I'll judge for myself. 

Spumoni：True, one person's opinion. Sadly for JB and the Chicago Code, though,is that that one person is from the NY Times.

Happily, most of the other reviews have already been printed, so that critic's review will not influence other critics.

Having now read it more carefully, the only criticism of JB is her accent. The rest is an indictment of the decision to cast someone who looks like her in the role. Other critics have touched on the same point. Since I have thought the same thing,I guess I shouldn't pounce on those who point it out.
